So many happy birthdays and gotcha days! Happy birthday to Sally (and we're
glad the news on your lump was good), and Cowboy, Vinnie, and Otis! And
happy gotcha day to Fiona, and Queen Mabel. And I was remiss -- yesterday
was my beautiful Princess Molly's gotcha day. 3 years ago she came into our
lives and hearts. Happy gotcha day sweet girl!

We're sending tons of healing drool for Bud, and hang in there drool for
Synthia. Bud, your mommy has had so much stress. You have to hang in there
pal -- she needs you.

Hearthealing drool to the folks at 4 the hounds on the passing of Petunia
and Sarah to the bridge.

Drool for Daisy. I think she will adjust to being blind (but until she does
please make sure she's never unsupervised in your backyard with the pool!)

Welcome Oscar and congratulations Cindy.

Drool for our buddy Morse. I hope these little spells aren't anything
serious.

We're so glad Lucy did well at the vetspital.

And finally drool for Eva at the hospital. What a heart. She's in the
hospital and she's worried about getting the OBR raffle prizes out. You are
in my thoughts and prayers. Laura (Geoffrey, Molly, Henry, Lisa (ATB),
Dub-Dub (ATB))

vigilance across the nation regarding new threats to bassetdom from land and air
and sea (well, not sea today as reported on the Drool, but since Bo can't swim,
he sees anything near the sea as a threat; something about which he is slightly
embarrassed, being Commander of the Pacific Basset Feet and all and living on an
island).

There are some exciting new developments in the Pacific Basset Feet. We have
added a "Press Release" section to the Communications part of the website. There
are pictures of new hound and houndette enlistees. And Bo's slave, her brother,
and Muldoon's dad are working on some new sections. One is an organizational
chart outlining chain of command. You will be able to click on a category (e.g.,
"Admirals" or "NCIS" and find a list of all the hounds in this unit). Our hope
is that this will help enlistees wanting to set up fundraising projects
featuring particular units (e.g., a poster of Rocky the Flying Squirrel hoisted
on his own petard by the ASTT?) And Muldoon is still working on a ship's
registry. Good Ship Lollipup, PBR, and Icebreaker Lost Wages, contact Muldoon
() to pick out a picture of your ship. Montana Basset Rescue is
working up a fundraiser idea. And my brother tells me that posters can be made
for about $7 apiece at WalMart's, a much lower figure than we had found before.
I like the idea of laminated placemats featuring different units and/or
different ships and their crew (complete with basset pictures). So PBF
members--be sure to send in your photos of yourself (in uniform or out); ships
be in touch with Muldoon. I think we can help out Montana Basset Rescue and some
others too--goodness knows, so many are in need right now. Semper fido,
everyone. Val, Bo, CICPBF, and Lt. Harley (hey, houndettes, I'm very handsome.
Just don't tell Ruby the chihuahua you're writing me).

Becky, I loved the pictures! So many bellies, not enough hands. Hehehe

We are so sorry that Abby has made her journey to the bridge, take heart that she is once again a young and healthy hound. May she live forever in the magic of your memories.

Happy Calendar Day to Winston ATB, Otis and Nelly. Tell the momma that you need a special treat for your special day.

Jacquelynn, Loved the pictures of Pierre taking a swim. Looked like he was having a blast.

Poor Bazzle, the boyz and I hope that you get out of the dungeon soon. You really need to resist chewing on things that help the slaves get around, or things that are really important to them. Not good idea to destroy those thingies, the slaves tend to get very irritable when these things are destroyed.

Michele Momma to the Bad A** Basset Brothers

Colt & Ruger Happy 14th Birthday Belvedere, we hope that your slave give you many tasty treats to celebrate such a special day.

Maggie, Congratulations on finally making your way to your new forever home. Sounds like you had a few lay overs, but you finally made it. Stay close to Mud and let him teach you the ways of the hound. Take care sweet girl.

Chewey, the boys are sending your momma some drool to help her research to find you a good way to battle your jaw cancer. They are also sending you no pain and stay strong drool.

Michele Momma to the Bad A** Basset Brothers
Colt & Ruger *Recovery Drool:*

We are sending lots of quick-healing drool to Miss Emily for all that is
ailing her. We are hopeful that she can recover quickly and get on to
enjoying the good life that she deserves.

Glad to read that both Belle and Diane's father are doing well and on their
road to recovery. We will continue sending drool just to be sure, and are
hopeful that the poison can be found so the hounds can run wild like they
wish.

We are also sending healing drool to Tessie for her infected paw and to
Sally's mom who just suffered a stroke. We have dealt with strokes in our
family, and it is not an easy experience for the patient or family. We will
keep your mother in our thoughts.

*Congratulations:*

Congratulations to Charlie on earning his Tracking Dog Title. How exciting
to only be a year old and have already done so well.

Congratulations to Gus on earning his Pwince title. You ahve done some
excellent slave training and are hopefully coaching your fellow furfamily so
they can carry on these traditions when they turn 16. We hope you enjoyed
your birthday Big Guy.

Congrats to Flash and Wilma on finding a forever home with Paul and
Veronica. You two are in for a wonderful life full of love and bellyrubs.

And last but not least, congrats to Jacqueline & Fendi. It sounds like you
are meant for eachother and we wish you many happy gotcha days together!!!

*Heart Healing Drool:*

To the Hortons, we are so sorry to read about Duglass. We send warm thoughts
and heart healing drool your way. He was lucky to have found a family who
loved him so much.

To Chris and Rescue, we are sorry to read about Bacall. Thank you for taking
her in and showing her what it feels like to be loved.

May everyone who is missing their hound take comfort in the wonderful
memories you shared with your loved one. They have all been lucky to have
been loved by a drooler, because we all know how much we care. We send heart
healing drool on every passing that we read about.

Laura (Geoffrey, Molly, Henry, Lisa (ATB),
Dub-Dub (ATB)) Healing drool for Droopy and his vestibular disease -- we're glad to hear
you're doing a little better and hope it continues.

Linda, I was so happy to hear Tony is doing better and hope he'll be home
with you and Buddy Love soon.

Drool for poor Shadow and her insect bite in a most unfortunate place....

Congratulations Clara and Rolph on your big race wins. I loved their
costumes -- thank you Sally for sending the pictures -- they really
brightened my day.

Drool for Jake and his spider bite, and for Truman Grammer -- hope your back
is better soon.

Jackie, grief follows its own schedule and a loss of a beloved person or
animal can never be "replaced" -- don't be embarrassed. Pierre Sr. was very
special to you, and you're still grieving. I'm so sorry.

And finally drool for Colt and Ruger's Daddy. I think the only answer is
for him to come home so you guys can look after him properly. He has had a
time of it this year. Laura (Geoffrey, Molly, Henry, Lisa (ATB), Dub-Dub
(ATB)) Today's Drool made me smile--Conley's love life problems and the basset 500
through Lake Elder Clara. Bo tells me he is very proud indeed of all the
vigilance across the nation regarding new threats to bassetdom from land and air
and sea (well, not sea today as reported on the Drool, but since Bo can't swim,
he sees anything near the sea as a threat; something about which he is slightly
embarrassed, being Commander of the Pacific Basset Feet and all and living on an

Semper fido,

for Sir Tank's momperson that her surgery goes well, for Debbie Winchester
and her brocciolitis (take care of her Brudder E!), and for Sally's Mom,
that she heals from her stroke.

I haven't been able to keep up with the Drool for the last week or so, so to any and all who have suffered a loss, you and your pups are in our daily prayers. We hope the friendship and support of all our fellow "Droolers" have given you comfort during your sad times.

We did see the winners of the senior calendar contest, congratulations to all the winners, everyone was so beautiful I wish we could have voted for more than we did.

I got my t-shirt from the Ohio Basset Rescue "Bassetfest 2010" and recommend it to all! It's beautiful, especially since it's dedicated to a wonderful pup.

I don't remember if I told you, but Siobhan/Emma Sue won the Snobbydogs.com contest she entered. Thanks to all who voted for her!
The prize was a very nice polo shirt with their logo and a battery powered collar (batteries included) that lights up with a ring of bones around it. I gave that to Emma Sue.

Speaking of Snobbydogs.com, there are no Bassets this month, but a friend of ours from the dog park entered one of her pups. She is Chess, the Chihuahua/Min-pin with a Great Dane friend Cleo. If you get a second, please vote for her. Her Mom, Laura, does a lot of work for the Min-Pin Rescue here in Denver and is a very nice lady.
You can vote at:
WWW.snobbydogs.com , Thanks

Come-on everyone, let's enter our Bassets and show the world that we are proud of these wonderful creatures.

Also, we've been voting for Basset Rescue of Montana, great going guys.
Thanks and woofs,
Bill, Janie Anne (I guess I'm a senior now, but I don't wannabe), and Siobhan (I can out eat anyone!!!)

We send heart
healing drool on every passing that we read about.

xoxo,
Kacy with Cowboy and Rupert
San Diego, CA Happy Gotcha Day Annabelle! And happy birthday Colbi -- what a terrible way
to spend your birthday. You have to train your slaves better!

Healing drool for Jack's sore leg -- we hope it's nothing serious. Get well
drool for poor sweet Katherine and her mange and allergic reatcion, for
Dudley and his nosebleeds (we hope they are nothing serious), for Tessie and
her sore paw pad, and for Miss Emily and her infection.

Plus tons of human healing drool from the bassets and prayers from Mom --
for Sir Tank's momperson that her surgery goes well, for Debbie Winchester
and her brocciolitis (take care of her Brudder E!), and for Sally's Mom,
that she heals from her stroke.

And lots of welcomes! Welcome Fendi, Flash and Wilma, and Jemma and
congratulations to Jacqueline, Paul and Veronica, and MaryAnn on your new
family members!

Susan, the bassets are sending hearthealing drool on foster Harlan's trip to
the bridge.

A very special happy birthday to Pw Gus, and congratulations on obtaining
your title! I loved your Mommy's special celebration with you!

Synthia, I'm so glad Fred is thriving under your loving care. I too hope he
quickly forgets that he was punished when he played, and gets to be just a
happy hound.

And finally -- how did Conley do in the Nationals? Laura (Geoffrey, Molly,
Henry, Lisa (ATB), Dub-Dub (ATB)) Hi All,
I haven't been able to keep up with the Drool for the last week or so, so to any and all who have suffered a loss, you and your pups are in our daily prayers.

Thanks and woofs,
Bill, Janie Anne (I guess I'm a senior now, but I don't wannabe), and Siobhan (I can out eat anyone!!!) Welcome Barney -- Bobette I'm so sorry Earl went to the bridge. I think
there is hope that Barney might give Bob kisses some day since you're
getting him as a kitten.

Drool for Miss Penny's cyst (I hope it drains on its own) and her limp.

Happy Gotcha Day to Jack and Emma, to Abraham and to Poppy. And I'm so glad
to hear Abraham is in remission -- fingers, toes, and basset ears crossed
that he stays that way for a very long time.

Synthia, I'm so glad the drool is working and things seem to be working out
for you on multiple fronts. The bassets continue slinging it, and I
continue to send best wishes.

Drool for Radar that his new food and medicine helps his pre-bloat condition
-- how scary.

Happy 14th birthday Allison! What a milestone! I hope you got lots of
treats!

Maggie, what a lovely post -- it did my heart good to read about you all
settled in with Carl, the grandchildren, and now sweet Thelma Lou and soon
even a foster!! I hope Carl's hip heals quickly and that he's home with you
soon.

Welcome Consuelo, and congratulations Isabel and Bertrand.

A very royal birthday wish is being sent to King George E. Grunt. Your
loyal subjects Geoffrey, Molly, and Henry hope you have a wonderful, kingly
birthday.

Poor sweet Cnly locked in jail. You're not a bad dog, you just display a
little of what Alan Greenspan used to call "irrational exuberance". Hope
you get sprung soon pal. Laura (Geoffrey, Molly, Henry, Lisa (ATB), Dub-Dub
(ATB))

Laura (Geoffrey, Molly, Henry, Lisa (ATB),
Dub-Dub (ATB)) Healing drool for Droopy and his vestibular disease -- we're glad to hear
you're doing a little better and hope it continues.

Bo tells me he is very proud indeed of all the
vigilance across the nation regarding new threats to bassetdom from land and air
and sea (well, not sea today as reported on the Drool, but since Bo can't swim,
he sees anything near the sea as a threat; something about which he is slightly
embarrassed, being Commander of the Pacific Basset Feet and all and living on an

Hi, dis Sirius. Yessaday I gotted a hole bag ob pig ears, only missing

Thanks and woofs,
Bill, Janie Anne (I guess I'm a senior now, but I don't wannabe), and Siobhan (I can out eat anyone!!!) Welcome Barney -- Bobette I'm so sorry Earl went to the bridge. I think
there is hope that Barney might give Bob kisses some day since you're
getting him as a kitten.

(ATB)) A belated happy birthday to Uncle Mr. Cooper Sir. We hope his and Llewis'
tummies are feeling better and that you found a better way to celebrate the
birthday later in the day.

We're so glad Dame Penny has stopped limping and the vet thinks the cyst
will heal on its own without surgery!

Ms. Beasley -- no more scaring Mama Ruthie by running away!! And you too
Gabe -- no more scaring your momma!

Drool for Emily --- we hope you can get the congestive heart failure under
control and she has lots of good time left with you.

A belated happy birthday to Maggie!

And drool for Evil Annie -- no diabetes drool is being sent, and migraine go
away drool is being sent for Marlene. Laura (Geoffrey, Molly, Henry, Lisa
(ATB), Dub-Dub (ATB)) Happy calendar day Sophie!

Happy Gotcha Day to Gabe!

Slinging get well soon drool to Riley. Poor thing...keep up the fight big boy!

Laura (Geoffrey, Molly, Henry, Lisa (ATB),
Dub-Dub (ATB)) Healing drool for Droopy and his vestibular disease -- we're glad to hear
you're doing a little better and hope it continues.

Bo tells me he is very proud indeed of all the
vigilance across the nation regarding new threats to bassetdom from land and air
and sea (well, not sea today as reported on the Drool, but since Bo can't swim,
he sees anything near the sea as a threat; something about which he is slightly
embarrassed, being Commander of the Pacific Basset Feet and all and living on an

Hi, dis Sirius. Yessaday I gotted a hole bag ob pig ears, only missing
one or too. i ate dem all and nobody new till dis mowning wen momperson went
to get us a tweet and she found only a emty bag, on da doggie bed dat say

dat stuff.

Come-on everyone, let's enter our Bassets and show the world that we are proud of these wonderful creatures.

there is hope that Barney might give Bob kisses some day since you're
getting him as a kitten.

Happy 14th birthday Allison! What a milestone! I hope you got lots of
treats!

Maggie, what a lovely post -- it did my heart good to read about you all

Welcome Consuelo, and congratulations Isabel and Bertrand.

A very royal birthday wish is being sent to King George E. Grunt. Your

Poor sweet Cnly locked in jail. You're not a bad dog, you just display a
little of what Alan Greenspan used to call "irrational exuberance". Hope
you get sprung soon pal. Laura (Geoffrey, Molly, Henry, Lisa (ATB), Dub-Dub

tummies are feeling better and that you found a better way to celebrate the
birthday later in the day.

Laura (Geoffrey, Molly, Henry, Lisa (ATB),
Dub-Dub (ATB)) Healing drool for Droopy and his vestibular disease -- we're glad to hear
you're doing a little better and hope it continues.

Bo tells me he is very proud indeed of all the
vigilance across the nation regarding new threats to bassetdom from land and air
and sea (well, not sea today as reported on the Drool, but since Bo can't swim,
he sees anything near the sea as a threat; something about which he is slightly
embarrassed, being Commander of the Pacific Basset Feet and all and living on an

We send heart
healing drool on every passing that we read about.

xoxo,
Kacy with Cowboy and Rupert

Posted on the Dailydrool mailing list. Go to http://lists.dailydrool.org/listinfo.cgi/dailydrool-dailydrool.org to subscribe. Thanks so much for suggesting BaRCSE, Michele. doG knows we need the money
but I think we have to be realistic. There are a couple of rescues here in
the Carolina's that have a huge support base and they seem to win each time.
I would rather have a needy rescue (well, we're all needy!) that at least
has a chance to win be the one we vote for this time. I know Leslie has a
lot of supporters in her home state but I really think that her rescue won
because a bunch of Droolers voted every day for her to win that money. I
know I voted every day and will again for the rescue that is picked. $1000
is such a gift to any rescue!

I use basset ears to cover the Houndettes eyes when we have to do something
unpleasant to them, especially when we cut their nails. We initially had to
muzzle Jersey but, over the years, she has finally come to trust us and she
lays in my lap with her eyes covered with her ears. I whisper sweet nothings
in her ear while the DH does the dirty deed. She still rumbles and growls
but it has been quite a while since she has tried to get a piece of me. I do
the same with Shadow and Suzy but Suzy sounds like she's being killed with
each nail and Shadow just suffers quietly through the whole process. Ginger
is a little challenged in the ear department. I guess they're long enough to
cover her eyes but we can't get her to be still enough to do her nails so
she goes to the vets.

We have recently found dehydrated sweet potatoes at our local pet food
store. They feel like they are hard as rock but the Houndettes are able to
chew on them and break them up into little pieces and it seems to help clean
their teeth. They're a little pricey but much cheaper than having to have
four hounds have dentals. I was going to try and figure out how to dehydrate
sweet potatoes myself but I read someplace that the sweet potato skin
contains toxins for dogs and kind of gave up on the whole thing. If anyone
knows anything about this, let me know because I'd love to be able to make
them myself.

I loved Bev's note about basset buppy ears! You can all have a good laugh at
my expense....we had quite a controversy going on when our BaRCSE puppies
came to us. All of us do rescue and we have very little experience with new
born buppies. We ended up sending pix of the bups to other basset rescues
around the US to try and figure out if they were more basset than anything
else! It's kind of funny now but who knew that they didn't come out with the
wonderful ears they end up with!

As much fun as it is to see the puppies that all of our rescues have right
now, it's terribly sad that we're getting so many. There has been such a
push to spay/neuter your dog here in the US but all of us are bringing in
these pregnant females. I'm looking forward to seeing every one's pix of
your puppies as they grow and I'm praying that you have as much luck in
finding good homes for your little ones as we were able to with our little
family. Our little guys are being spayed/neutered this week and will be
moving on to their new families pretty soon. I'm hoping that their foster
family gets another video or two that I can share with you before the
buppies go to their new homes. You can see the most recent videos on our
website at barcse.org.

The Houndettes send heart healing and get well drool mixed in with a few
prayers from me to all in need.

We send heart
healing drool on every passing that we read about.

xoxo,
Kacy with Cowboy and Rupert

Thanks and woofs,
Bill, Janie Anne (I guess I'm a senior now, but I don't wannabe), and Siobhan (I can out eat anyone!!!) Welcome Barney -- Bobette I'm so sorry Earl went to the bridge. I think
there is hope that Barney might give Bob kisses some day since you're
getting him as a kitten.

Posted on the Dailydrool mailing list. Go to http://lists.dailydrool.org/listinfo.cgi/dailydrool-dailydrool.org to subscribe. I am way behind on Drools and a lot of other things - be patient Droolers on the short list - have the lists printed now to have the cards done!

All 3 bassets sleep with us on a King size bed - I go to bed last so I am always trying to figure out where I'm going to sleep! Two move when requested and the other one growls 1st then moves.....the beagle sleeps on the chair. Tonight I'll be glad they are on the bed since the wind and the cold are brutal here in NE OH. I so dislike the snow and cold - really have to seriously think of warmer spaces to live....I know the girls all love the warmth....

Sending drool to all those in need and prayers to all who have lost a houndie...

Jane & the Houndettes
Jersey, Shadow, Suzy & Ginger The DH was sweet this morning and let me sleep in. Well, until the
Houndettes came back inside from their first morning outing. He left our
bedroom door open and I woke up with Suzy diving under the covers to warm
up. Then Shadow jumped up on the other side of me and Jersey plodded up the
stairs next to the bed and started fluffing the DH's pillow. Then came the
Pita....errrr, Ginger. She's a wild woman in a basset suit. As always, she
had spent the night in her crate and was ready to go, go, go. This morning
it was her mission to see who she could irritate the most into playing.
Everyone else was content to snuggle in for a few more minutes to warm up
but she can be pretty relentless. Once she'd gotten snapped at by all the
other Houdettes, she started on me. Pawing, licking, trying to shove her
nose into my mouth. No more sleep for me!

All of the Houndettes like to snack on kitty cookies here. We finally got a
swing gate with an opening for the cats from one of the local pet stores.
The opening is actually pretty small but Shadow, who is very small, and the
Pita Ginger, who is very large, both managed to get through it. The DH
finally attached a piece of plastic over the bottom of the opening so the
cats could still get through but, hopefully, none of the hounds. It's really
been pretty funny. Ginger will back up into the room across the hall and
hurl herself at the opening to try and get through. I'm waiting for the day
that she gets stuck but it hasn't happened yet.

We've been voting daily for Bob the Dog at Bissell and Ozark Mountain Basset
Rescue. The directions at the shelter site says to give a one word answer
for the animal that is shown. Try that and you shouldn't have any more
problems voting.

The Houndettes send drool mixed with prayers from me to all in need.

Jane & the Houndettes
Jersey, Shadow, Suzy and the Pita, Ginger
