If you run

curl-config --cflags

The following is reported:

/opt/local/bin/curl-config: line 140: CPPFLAG_CURL_STATICLIB: command not
found
-I/opt/local/include

This is a reported bug for curl (see:
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=100976&aid=3551460&group_id=976).

The attached patchfile fixed the issue.
