Hi
Thanks for the advice offered, I'm going down the route that IC8 6522 is
toast.
Does anyone have a source of 6522 chips suitable for a master ?
Beebmaster doesn't list them, Sprow only has nmos versions, i've
searched fleabay with no success...
Thanks
Howard

Mark at Retroclinic probably does...

Wookie,
Just wondered if you had downloaded the Master repair guide from Chris' Acorns
site.
http://acorn.chriswhy.co.uk/Computers/MasterComputers.html
Acorn Master Series Hardware Specification (Feb 86)
I think that there is some good info there with some more waveform measurements
that can be made as as final diagnosis before you comdemn the 6522.
If all else fails, I do have here a new R65C22 but I think it is my last one.
I may be persuaded to sell it, as these parts are now scarce, I would advise
removal of the old one without physically damaging it and then fitting a
socket. In that way, if the fault is not cleared, the original chip can be
refitted.
Keep us informed of how you get on.

Another option may be to source the WDC65c22, which IIRC is still being
manufactured (along with the WDC65c02), I did buy some a while back and
so they are available in the UK.
Both seem to be available from Mouser, who though based in the USA ship
to the UK (pretty quickly from what I remember).
Anyway the 65c22 is here :

Note I have not tried this in the Master, but my Atom clone uses both
the 65c02 and the 65c22.
Cheers.
Phill.

Hi Howard,
I've got a couple to hand if you're still in need of one, marked MOS
6522 1882 on the top and HONG KONG HM165101 on the underside.
Cheers,
Mike.

Unfortunately I don't have a scope, only a dmm.

I will, there's nothing better than a happy ending after giving someone
advice.
Thanks for all the replies, I've ordered a couple off Mark/RetroClinic
Cheers
