I'm curious to see what the Unix ones are - whether Torch kept them DFS (or
ADFS) compatible, or whether the installer includes a driver and the
majority are in System III's native format.

cheers

Ok, i've uploaded all the images to a new page on my web site here.
http://www.quantums.info/oldcomputers/bbc/default.htm

I'll add some more details about the various file shortly.
But i used the comment function of Imagedisk to include what was on the
label of each disc, for the sets of discs i only included what was
different to the first disc in the set on the rest of the set.
Any questions let me know.

Sorry, should be fixed now.
The weird thing is that the links worked on my PC, i think the newer
versions of IE fix a lot of URL mistakes without you even knowing.

The links are broken and need manually editing to work.

Eg:
href="http:\\quantums.info/oldcomputers/bbc/discimages/torch%2068000%20co%20pro/system%20disc%20V1.7.zip">

system disc V1.7.zip

should be:

system disc V1.7.zip

etc.

It's because the links have DOS slashes in them which Internet
Explorer "fixes" to URL slashes, contrary to the standards.

vv
http:\\quantums.info/oldcomputers/bbc/discimages/torch%206...

and it transparently translates the absolute references because
you are accessing them from your machine, so it knows it's
your site.

At least it's not a link to file:\\C:\\My Documents\.... which
I've seen too many times to believe. ;)

A quick look at the disks suggests about half are CPN disks,
readable with CPMFiler, and half are UnixFS disks, which may
be readable with UnixFiler.

My emailer of preference (Thunderbird) at least as of version 12, and
maybe earlier, detects this is a mailing list and offers "Reply" (to
sender) and "Reply list" - which is what I used to compose this reply.
No scripting required.

My emailer of preference (Thunderbird) at least as of version 12, and
maybe earlier, detects this is a mailing list and offers "Reply" (to
sender) and "Reply list" - which is what I used to compose this reply.
No scripting required.

Ahh but it didn't used to which is when I setup the mailserver rule. :)

Cheers.

I'm curious to see what the Unix ones are - whether Torch kept them DFS (or
ADFS) compatible, or whether the installer includes a driver and the
majority are in System III's native format.

cheers

Or even whether they are actually in UnixFS format!

Jim

Sorry, should be fixed now.
The weird thing is that the links worked on my PC, i think the newer
versions of IE fix a lot of URL mistakes without you even knowing.

The links are broken and need manually editing to work.

Eg:
href="http:\\quantums.info/oldcomputers/bbc/discimages/torch%2068000%20co%20pro/system%20disc%20V1.7.zip">

system disc V1.7.zip

should be:

system disc V1.7.zip

Makes a change from the usual case where one ends up sending an email
just to the person when they mean the list.

Cheers

Don't open up that can of worms again.....I have added scripts to my
mail server to add a reply-to to the list to fix that, and I think JGH
has done something similar his end too....

Cheers.

If that was the message where you let me know that i'd messed up the URL's
then it was me that sent it back to the list just so people knew why the
links might not have worked and that it had been fixed.
