Join us for lunch on May 23!
More than 10% of Virginia’s children and youth are in families formed by foster care, kinship care, or adoption. As many as half have special education needs.
This webinar will review some of the special education basics that impact foster, adoptive and kinship families. Topics will include the education stability aspects of the Fostering Connections Act, identifying appropriate behavioral supports, and strategies for communicating with school personnel about the needs of children and youth with disabilities who join their families through adoption, foster and kinship care.

Name: Kelly Henderson, PhD
Bio: Kelly is founder Formed Families Forward, http://www.formedfamiliesforward.org/, a nonprofit organization that trains and supports foster, adoptive and kinship families of children with special needs in northern Virginia. Kelly serves on the Board of Formed Families Forward and PEATC.A special educator by profession and a foster and adoptive parent of three school age sons, Kelly bring experience and expertise in special education policy, behavioral interventions and home/school collaboration.
