You might call this heresy but is there a way I can install just the SEGY
viewer programme Rdibmsgy.exe on a machine? (This computer doesn't have the
graphics to run Kingdom, but is useful for checking on SEGY files). I've
tried copying the executable to a folder in Program Files (x86) but when I
try to run it it says there's a dll file missing. I'm running Windows 7
64bit professional.
Grateful for any suggestions.

Thanks for the responses. Mike Stone provided me with the dll files I needed
to make the SMT version work. It's not the perfect viewer, and I've always
thought it should be called SEGY Header Viewer, but it is handy for looking
at trace headers. A zoom of the chart would make it more useful - maybe that
will be one of my top five enhancement requests!

Hea,
Speaking of free quick Segy Viewers.
Whatever happened to the Petra viewer?
My Viewer approach seems to be to use the SMT to view just the headers, the
Petra viewer to take a quick look at Normal data(Amplitude)
and Seaseis/Seaview for advanced stuff.
i just can't get used to Seisee or Gsegyview for some reason.
But recently I had to re-install windows on a utility box, and for the life
of me I couldn't find the Petra Viewer anymore.
Now that IHS owns SMT I feel this might be an appropriate question for
them.

Mike,
IHS SEGYviewer is still available at the below url under "Support" tab:
http://www.ihs.com/products/oil-gas-information/analysis-software/petra.aspx
Or directly at:
https://petraftp.ihsenergy.com/segyviewer.exe

Both Petra and Seaseis are quite awesome.
But I prefer Seaseis where u not only can view, you can even edit and
export trace header and even edit segy and save it as a new segy.
Thanks
