Now here's the thing:
If you were given the chance to be transported in time to some point between
1914 to 1918 on the European Western front of the Great War, given some
training to fly airplanes (at Issoudun or at Aviano or at Schwerin) and then
you could choose ANY aircraft of the era to make a tour over the trenches...
I guess I'd choose -for practical reasons- a Fokker D.VIIf. However, for the
looks, I'd choose a Nieuport 11. Or a Sopwith Pup.
What airplane would you choose?

I would be torn between the Sopwith Triplane and the DH-2. The triplane
for its elegance and the DH-2 because I think it looks cool.

I would love to fly all the airplanes, or should I say aeroplanes, of
1914 to 1918. So, I can't make up my mind which one to choose.

For handling & fun -- Sopwith Pup.
For a bit more -- S.E.5a.
Both choices based on my fondness for British and my knowledge of my own piloting skills.
If I had to choose between the two, it'd be the Pup.

Hard to answer as there are so many variables but, would have to go with
the Sopwith Pup for it's exceptional (viceless?) flying qualities.

Now here's the thing:
If you were given the chance to be transported in time to some point
between
1914 to 1918 on the European Western front of the Great War, given some
training to fly airplanes (at Issoudun or at Aviano or at Schwerin) and
then
you could choose ANY aircraft of the era to make a tour over the
trenches...
I guess I'd choose -for practical reasons- a Fokker D.VIIf. However, for
the
looks, I'd choose a Nieuport 11. Or a Sopwith Pup.
What airplane would you choose?
D.

)
Not even a choice in the matter - Sopwith Triplane

I would be torn between the Sopwith Triplane and the DH-2. The triplane
for its elegance and the DH-2 because I think it looks cool.

I would love to fly all the airplanes, or should I say aeroplanes, of
1914 to 1918. So, I can't make up my mind which one to choose.

Nooo, that's cheating! Coose one, two, name them and why!

Spad 7, early on, because it was much better than the opposition.
My second choice would be the Spad 13, as by then the Fokker DVII
was beginning to appear.

For handling & fun -- Sopwith Pup.
For a bit more -- S.E.5a.
Both choices based on my fondness for British and my knowledge of my own piloting skills.
If I had to choose between the two, it'd be the Pup.

A request John, It would be useful if you chose the SE5a of Rhys-Davies, so that you could tell us the colour of Voss's cowling!

OK, the Fokker D.VII as it looks cool and was probably the best fighter
of WWI or the Fokker Dr.I as I would love to do all the airobatics it
can do and it looks so cool.

A Junkers J.I! Nothing like LOTS of armor plate!

Or a 24 Squadron DH2 on November 23, 1916. Then I might have been able to shoot down the bloody Red Baron before he downed Major Hawker V.C. Always wondered what he'd have contributed if he'd have lived...
