Who else wants to do an event similar to the one just held in Times Square?

We could get a bunch of people together and plan a one hour yoga session
somewhere in phoenix. Ideas of a location?

It will be like a night time Bikram yoga session because it is so hot here.

We could also get volunteers who don't want to do yoga that will have
water-filled spray bottles to cool off the people.

I would be down for this, especially if we thought up a fun location.

people either.

Yay!

Now we need to figure out a place. I will start researching for wide open,
yet semi-trafficked (is that a word?) public areas. I really don't think
the type of ground matters, just as long as everyone brings a yoga mat or
some kind of towel or something.

If anybody thinks of a good place, let's discuss.

Cheers,
Amy

Who else wants to do an event similar to the one just held in Times Square?

We could get a bunch of people together and plan a one hour yoga session
somewhere in phoenix. Ideas of a location?

It will be like a night time Bikram yoga session because it is so hot here.

We could also get volunteers who don't want to do yoga that will have
water-filled spray bottles to cool off the people.

I would be down for this, especially if we thought up a fun location.

This is a fun idea, but you know that there already are a bunch of downtown public yoga classes.  In fact, all winter long, they already do Yoga in the Park in Civic Space park.  Also, there have been some small "flash yogas" this spring, at the farmer's market and near the convention center.   Maybe you should consider doing it somewhere will it be noticed as unusual - like in front of the stadium before one of the games.  Or, in the midst of the All-Star league festivities.
But if you are looking for big open lawns - there's a big lawn near the AZ center; there are dozens of empty lots over b/w 3rd and 5th streets (beware of disgusting trash) and there is the controversial new parking lot that was painted with the green surface - at like Polk and 1st.

Hey all,

Its not yoga but there is a pilates class on the lawn at the Biltmore Fashion Park on July 4th at 8am. It's free!

Happy 4th!

Cheers,
Amy

My first thought is the Civic Space Park in downtown... you know, the
one with that huge string sculpture thingie...

That was actually my first thought too, weird. I will check it out, and we
can figure out if it will be doable all the while we won't get kicked out.
I'm sure not, since it's a public place....

We should do yoga in the civic space downtown it's lovely and grassy and there is a paved portion that is shaded. Its downtown Phoenix btw
-Omayra

I'd realized for just doing yoga in an urban setting, Civic Space Park
would be excellent. However, this is the Cacophony Society, and
therefore an unexpected setting is ideal. How about around the base of
the Chase tower as the businessmen are streaming in? It's a cinch to
get in and out via light rail.

Cheers,
Amy

My first thought is the Civic Space Park in downtown... you know, the
one with that huge string sculpture thingie...

That was actually my first thought too, weird. I will check it out, and we
can figure out if it will be doable all the while we won't get kicked out.
I'm sure not, since it's a public place....

Hey all,

Its not yoga but there is a pilates class on the lawn at the Biltmore Fashion Park on July 4th at 8am. It's free!

Happy 4th!

We should do yoga in the civic space downtown it's lovely and grassy and there is a paved portion that is shaded. Its downtown Phoenix btw

I'd realized for just doing yoga in an urban setting, Civic Space Park
would be excellent. However, this is the Cacophony Society, and
therefore an unexpected setting is ideal. How about around the base of
the Chase tower as the businessmen are streaming in? It's a cinch to
get in and out via light rail.

Both make excellent points. Maybe find a business building with a lawn
area? The first thing that came to mind was the courts... but I'm
personally not wearing spandex around those buildings' clientele ;) shade
and grass would be great unless this is going to happen after summer passes.
