Hello all! I was just thinking of how fun, random, and exciting it would be
to have a gathering of people at a local park or other big space during the
day where someone brings music and speakers, and we all have a massive dance
party. The effect would be better if it was during the day because dancing
usually happens only at night for some stupid reason, and which I attest.
If it is too hot, we could even incorporate a slip'n'slide, water guns, and
a kiddie pool!
Let me know what you think.
Cheers!

I dig it. We would probably need a permit for the amplified sound but those
aren't too expensive and easily attainable.

Just depends on what park you want to do it at. Contact the parks and
recreation department of which ever city you choose (I like Scottsdale
because they are cheaper) and tell them what you want to do and they will
more than likely know which park is best suited for your needs :)

So just got off the phone with parks & recreation. She said it's $50 to
rent the largest ramada, but it doesn't cost money to play music, unless we
hire a company to play music. Then they would need money for insurance.
Plus it is $7 for another fee, and $10 for a beer permit.
I'm not quite sure we would have to "rent" a ramada if Eldorado Park is not
that busy. We could all just show up and "take" the space. But I would
have to scope the park out to see how many people are usually there. If we
have a lot of people involved, it might be a good idea to reserve a ramada
if the park is usually busy.

They will shut you down, from experience ;)
BUT... I'm sure we can find the DJs that would be interested in playing a
daytime dance party without charging or asking for insurance. then you just
throw out a donation jar to get your permit covered. Easy peasy with our
crowd!

That would be D.O.P.E.
So, I guess now the question is who and when? How should we go about
finding a DJ? Do you know of DJ's that would do it?
My first inclination is to do it in a month or so. Unless we need more time
to plan for it, or there is another event happening around that time, like
say, saturday May 28th?

-Amy
They will shut you down, from experience ;)
BUT... I'm sure we can find the DJs that would be interested in playing a
daytime dance party without charging or asking for insurance. then you just
throw out a donation jar to get your permit covered. Easy peasy with our
crowd!

I dig it. We would probably need a permit for the amplified sound but those
aren't too expensive and easily attainable.
