Now we're in a long break between ladders.
Let's revisit the ONE HOUR sprint this week.
Slow speed (25 wpm) for 15 minutes, then no speed limit for the next 45 min.
Thursday, March 10, in NA, March 11, UTC, 0200-0300Z, for ONE HOUR.
We will combine the SNS and NS into one event, going one hour, NO
DUPES, one continuous log/scoring.
NO DUPES: New for the 60 minute event, but should allow most of us to
work everyone on all four bands!!
If called by a slower station, match his speed, anytime in the hour.
NS will be on 20/40/80/160m (+38 to +45), 1814-18 on 160.
NCCC SPRINT RULES modified to: 60 minutes - see above
100 WATTS max., mults count on each band.
The schedule of Thursday (sometimes Friday also) events is posted
on the NEXT NS page at:
http://www.ncccsprint.com/next_ns.html
General rules and further info at: http://www.ncccsprint.com/
-- Report scores, discuss any contesting issue, near 3610/3615 LSB
after the practice, at 0300Z (7 PM PST) on
the weekly NCCC contest net), and send your score directly to the
3830 reflector.
Thanks to WA7BNM and N7WA for their posting service.
Probably go from 03-04Z next week after DST in effect. Want "DUPES OK"?

Hey Ken -
Two weeks in a row on 4 bands ;-)
Also heard N3ZZ on 160 but d/n work.
DUPES:
I vote for dupes. Came to the conclusion i prefer no-dupes, but vote
for it cuz:
1) break the routine. (uh, but how many will not get the word ? -So
point one may neutralize itself.
2) Our activity has been down. Dupes will help that.
If Ken goes for dupes next week, we will need to double the effort to
get the word out.
We might need to mention DST also...

Although I prefer the 'no dupes' format, activity got a bit slow (by NS
standards) at times last night as there were many unanswered CQ's and I kept
tuning across people whom I had already worked. (even NO3M cranked it down
to about 30wpm!! :)) So, I agree with Howie, I think allowing DUPES would
give the activity level a boost in the one-hour format.
Either way, it's still fun.

ps. missed some "regulars"...VVA?...UFO?...N3BB (in class)?...and where's

I think Ken already said next week is gonna be dupes in his 3830 score posting.
If I recall right, it will be an hour later (10pm -11pm EDST)- which
is 'same time as
usual for the bands', ok, now i am confused again ;-)
Tor is on some kinda sabatical (or TDY) - believe in W7.

The US goes on DST this Sunday, so the NS next week will be one hour later
local time but the same UTC, so the band conditions will be the same. With
respect to the sun/earth, the NS time is unchanged. It is the local
political time this one hour later. ;>)

Re next weeks' same band dupes NS:
Not good for my own interest as the change potentially ruins 160 meters for
the west coast. Found it particularly interesting last night when N4OX went
from S-1 to S4 in the last 5 minutes, allowing an easy qso and FL mult.

Yes, I am on the road a lot this spring- currently /1 at Boston University. Back to Tucson next week.
You can also read about what I work on at arxiv.org. These are "preprints" of papers posted before they are refereed and published. Searching for "R T Clay" in the Physics archive should work.

Tor: He's visiting at Univ of Ariz in Tucson, thus escaping those freezing Ms. winters. . probably visiting his friend and collaborator Prof. Sumit Mazumdar
I suggest all of you read Tor's latest paper:
Li, H., Clay, R. T., & Mazumdar, S. (2010). The paired-electron crystal in the two-dimensional frustrated quarter-filled band. J. Phys.:Condens. Matter. 22, 272201.

Hi Tor....we have been missing you and our coveted MS mult.. Ray has
been picking up some of the slack..
"the two-dimensional frustrated quarter-filled band"
is that reference to the clash of RTTY and TUNERS during the CW NS and SPRINT ?
