We are very excited to announce that Arizona American Water will provide
scholarship funds for the 2010 Master Watershed Steward class. This
will go toward scholarships for applicants in their service areas which
include Sun City, Sun City West, Paradise Valley, Anthem, portions of
Surprise, and many other areas in the Northwest Valley. The exact
scholarship amounts will depend on the number of applicants. Space is
limited so please get your applications in soon. The class announcement
is below and the application is available online following the link on
the web site.

GET CONNECTED WITH WATER IN ARIZONA!

New Master Watershed Steward class starting in Phoenix October 14th.
This series of classes will help you

* make informed decisions
* conserve water at home
* learn about rainwater harvesting
* protect and restore rivers, streams and natural areas
dependent on water
* be knowledgeable about issues important to you and your family
* be informed about drought impacts on water supplies in Arizona
* get connected with water professionals and your peers.

Are you interested in learning how to protect your local water resources
while gaining valuable volunteer experience? The University of Arizona
Cooperative Extension is seeking motivated applicants to participate in
*The Phoenix Master Watershed Steward Program, *an* *intensive ten week
course for adults that will educate and train participants about local
watershed issues and water resources in Arizona. The training includes
outdoor activities as well as classroom time. 40-hours of volunteer
activities are required after course completion to earn the full
certification. Volunteers will gain hands-on experience in creating the
new Rainwater Harvesting and Water Conservation Demonstration Areas at
the Maricopa County Cooperative Extension office and other outdoor water
conservation projects throughout the valley as well as local riparian
restoration projects.

*Where*: University of Arizona Cooperative Extension in Phoenix

*When:* Thursday mornings from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon. Beginning
Thursday, October 14^th , 2010 - January 13, 2011. Holidays excluded.

*Cost:* The cost is $100.00. The Master Watershed Steward training
manual, all handouts and light snacks are provided. Partial scholarships
are available!
