Could be some discovery issues. Make sure you use the latest CTT
tool and also latest Rygel (there was 0.8.0 and 0.8.1 recently) along
with latest gupnp/gssdp libs. Also make sure, there is no firewall
rules or some crappy router not able to handle multicast on the way.

No, that is most definitely not the issue.

No I'm not putting it anywhere public since that would be violation
of DLNA copyrights.

Besides, CTT can detect DMS and many tests pass, but only for some tests

However, I can see and play those files served by Rygel from a DLNA client

I started working on upgrade to 0.8.1 and I can now build and run it on
our router board, but I see some errors and crashes and I am trying to
understand why they happen.
BTW, I would like to make sure that I am using the best set of libraries.
Below is what I am using for Rygel 0.8.1. Is that OK? Or is there a
different version you would recommend for any libary?

[alper] Right. We just found out that CTT expects the test files to be in
the folder TestMedia on DUT and tried this, but still same problem.

Ah OK.

I did't know CTT requires the DMS to serve some particular test
media. I thought it could be anything. It does however tries to find
some particular 'type' of media for many tests so could it be that
rygel is unable to handle some particular SearchCriteria (correctly)
or unable to extract the metadata (especially DLNA PN) for the media
in question and CTT searches the media through the missing metadata?

Cool! You could either file bugs for the test cases causing the crash
with rygel console log and gdb backtrace attached (do run with
G_DEBUG=fatal-criticals if you see any CRITICAL messages on the
console) or (if you want to be even more helpful) you could dig issues
and submit patches through bugzilla or some public git repository.

Just use the latest stable version of ALL libraries, especially
gupnp* and gssdp.

Ah, interesting. I just wonder why we never encountered this issue.
To get some folder/file(s) exposed in the root container, you can use
the D-Bus APIs of MediaExport plugin.

I do want to share the number of passing and failing tests and
their references but we haven't been able to run the tests for a while
due to some network issues and us being busy with some other stuff.

This doesn't work anymore. Everything added this way also shows up under
"Files & Folders". If that's an issue, I have to re-add this
functionality

I did't know CTT requires the DMS to serve some particular test

some particular 'type' of media for many tests so could it be that
rygel is unable to handle some particular SearchCriteria (correctly)

Just use the latest stable version of ALL libraries, especially

Ah, interesting. I just wonder why we never encountered this issue.
To get some folder/file(s) exposed in the root container, you can use
the D-Bus APIs of MediaExport plugin.

I do want to share the number of passing and failing tests and

due to some network issues and us being busy with some other stuff.

Could be some discovery issues. Make sure you use the latest CTT
tool and also latest Rygel (there was 0.8.0 and 0.8.1 recently) along
with latest gupnp/gssdp libs. Also make sure, there is no firewall

Yes, looks like this is not the issue with CTT, because CTT expects the
test media to be in TestMedia folder anyway, and I can add it to uri list
and share. So, maybe it is just about the failure to extract metadata for
some files as Zeeshan pointed.
I did not run the whole test after I found out about TestMedia folder
usage. I will do this and see if some of those failures about "not finding
media" will go away.
I would also like to get you pass/failure numbers when possible.

Thanks,
Alper

Ah OK. First we must make sure this really is the issue here. It
could also be a plan B of CTT: oh we didn't find the media file

Yes, looks like this is not the issue with CTT, because CTT expects the
test media to be in TestMedia folder anyway, and I can add it to uri list
and share. So, maybe it is just about the failure to extract metadata for
some files as Zeeshan pointed.
I did not run the whole test after I found out about TestMedia folder
usage. I will do this and see if some of those failures about "not finding
media" will go away.
I would also like to get you pass/failure numbers when possible.

Thanks,
Alper

Reading this sentence from release notes of CTT 1.5.00.56 once again, I
think I have misunderstood the TestMedia folder. It is talking about the
TestMedia on the PC running CTT, not about putting the test files into
TestMedia folder on the DUT. And we already have TestMedia folder in the
CTT install directory.

And the second sentence does not mention any obligation for the DMS, so I
can share it however I like?
"... it must be shared by the DMS when running tests against a DMS."

[alper] CTT PC is directly connected to our router`s LAN. So, it cannot be

Besides, CTT can detect DMS and many tests pass, but only for some tests
where CTT wants to get the test media served by DMS, it fails to find the
test media and test fails.
However, I can see and play those files served by Rygel from a DLNA client
(Win7 or N900 for example), so why would CTT not find them?

I started working on upgrade to 0.8.1 and I can now build and run it on
our router board, but I see some errors and crashes and I am trying to
understand why they happen.
BTW, I would like to make sure that I am using the best set of libraries.
Below is what I am using for Rygel 0.8.1. Is that OK? Or is there a

Ah OK. First we must make sure this really is the issue here. It
could also be a plan B of CTT: oh we didn't find the media file
through Search, lets see if CTT Test media is available on the server
in the root container. If so, we could then make this configurable as
we really don't want this happening normally.

Then, my problem should be something else.

Using Opera's revolutionary e-mail client: http://www.opera.com/mail/ This paragraph is the more confusing one to let us think that we have to
share the TestMedia folder in DMS:

Test Media Sharing
"The DLNA CTT requires that the DLNA media be shared by the DMS and it
must be in the TestMedia subfolder of the install in a flat folder (no
subfolders under TestMedia). Some DMS devices can’t do this (i.e. a video
camera) so those test cases are filtered out if the check box on the
Select Device Dialog is not checked."

shared by the DMS when running tests against a DMS. "

Yup, I totally understand why you got confused. :) The key to
avoiding such confusion would be to keep the terms 'container' and
'folder' separated in your mind. Can't claim anything about anyone
else but it helps me a lot. :)
