My patience with Joe has run out. He has been warned to stay on topic
and that personal attacks on me or any one else are not tolerated.

He has been unsubscribed from the reflector.

have not seen a message from Joe that has been in any way a personal attack
on someone else in the past month. In the 4 messages that he has posted to
this reflector I do not see one where he has gone off the topic or made a
personal attack. I personally find his information informative and almost
100 percent correct on what he posts about..
I realize that you have had a personal grudge against Joe But I have not
seen anything that should have gotten him banned..

You haven't seen the messages because I intercepted them before they
got to the reflector. Joe has been on moderated status since mid-June.
Of the more than 1400 members of this reflector, he is the only one on
moderated status since I started moderating in 2007.

I don't think I have a "grudge" against Joe, but the reverse is
certainly not true. He attacks me personally every chance he gets,
even on other reflectors.

That's enough of this on the reflector.

If anyone wants to continue this particular discussion off the
reflector, email me at and I will furnish you
with all the examples you want.

My patience with Joe has run out. He has been warned to stay on topic

It's high time. Joe is a "valued contributor" to dozens of reflectors. And
most people tolerate him, because of that. Oh, yes, he's intelligent enough,
etc. Good for him.

But, as someone who's subscribed to most lists Joe is, I can honestly say
that - sooner or later - Joe will violently attack anyone who doesn't agree
with him. I've seen it happen on almost every single email list.

Bravo Bill. I wish more list owners/moderators showed the same "cojones" as
you; and would make him take his sales campaign elsewhere. Because that's
all Joe is there for, that much is clear.

Erik - K5WW

I agree with Dave. Joe has been a terrific help to me on several issues
related not only to supporting my microHAM microKEYER II, but also with
MMTTY, WriteLog and other many other software issues. He has no obligation
to do so yet he always is willing to point me and others in the right
direction to get their problem solved. To me this is in the finest
tradition of amateur radio. The personality conflicts need to be set aside.
What the reflector is here for, or should be here for, is the open exchange
of information for the benefit of everyonel. One individual serving as
judge, jury and executioner is a disservice to everyone else on the
reflector.

100 percent correct on what he posts about..

One individual serving as
judge, jury and executioner is a disservice to everyone else on the
reflector.

Even though Joe is the exclusive distributor of the MicroHam products in
this region, I have seen him take his time to help people resolve problems
with their RigBlaster, Navigator, and other commercial products. Where are
THESE manufacturers when their customers need support? I have even had
private conversations with him to resolve issues for several of my friends
too.

I have also seen BS attacks on Joe just because he's in business selling
MicroHam products. Some people need to get a grip. Things seemed to be going
pretty smoothly lately and I thought all this rubbish was behind us.

If Joe is banned on the RTTY reflector, you can count me gone as well.

This is a huge loss for the subscribers of the RTTY reflector. Joe has
consistently been extremely helpful to everyone, on a wide variety of
topics, very few of which have anything to do with MicroHAM products. Yes,
he often is quite direct in his communication and that may feel abrasive to
some people. While there are undoubtedly a few who are incompatible with
Joe, the vast majority of us value his contributions on this and other
reflectors. I'd like him re-subscribed to the RTTY reflector.

I wish that everyone would avoid personal attacks in their reflector email.
If someone feels a post is out-of-bounds, take it up with the sender off the
reflector. Escalating personal attacks on the reflector is equally
inappropriate.

You haven't seen the messages because I intercepted them before they

Of the more than 1400 members of this reflector, he is the only one on

One individual serving as
judge, jury and executioner is a disservice to everyone else on the
reflector.

Posted on the RTTY mailing list. Go to http://lists.contesting.com/mailman/listinfo/RTTY to subscribe. IMHO, Joe is the most active problem solver on this reflector.  He's helped me
out on numerous occasions and his knowledge and assistance is of great value.  I
see no reason why he should be unsubscribed.  I've not read anything that
constitutes as an attack on anyone.  He doesn't tout Microham products on this
reflector even though they are the best on the market.

I'm with Bob.  If Joe is not allowed to participate on this forum, I will leave
as well.  Maybe it's time to start a new reflector.

One individual serving as
judge, jury and executioner is a disservice to everyone else on the

REPLY:

You haven't seen the messages because I intercepted them before they
got to the reflector. Joe has been on moderated status since mid-June.
Of the more than 1400 members of this reflector, he is the only one on
moderated status since I started moderating in 2007.

I don't think I have a "grudge" against Joe, but the reverse is
certainly not true. He attacks me personally every chance he gets,
even on other reflectors.

That's enough of this on the reflector.

If anyone wants to continue this particular discussion off the

I agree with Dave. Joe has been a terrific help to me on several issues
related not only to supporting my microHAM microKEYER II, but also with
MMTTY, WriteLog and other many other software issues. He has no obligation
to do so yet he always is willing to point me and others in the right
direction to get their problem solved. To me this is in the finest
tradition of amateur radio. The personality conflicts need to be set aside.
What the reflector is here for, or should be here for, is the open exchange

But the issue for me is who moderates the moderator? IMHO, the proper
thing for Bill to do would be to recuse himself when the matter

After mulling over this for the past day, I have decided that I too

You haven't seen the messages because I intercepted them before they
got to the reflector. Joe has been on moderated status since mid-June.
Of the more than 1400 members of this reflector, he is the only one on
moderated status since I started moderating in 2007.

I don't think I have a "grudge" against Joe, but the reverse is
certainly not true. He attacks me personally every chance he gets,
even on other reflectors.

That's enough of this on the reflector.

If anyone wants to continue this particular discussion off the
reflector, email me at and I will furnish you
with all the examples you want.

Because that's
all Joe is there for, that much is clear.

out on numerous occasions and his knowledge and assistance is of great value.  I
see no reason why he should be unsubscribed.  I've not read anything that
constitutes as an attack on anyone.  He doesn't tout Microham products on this
reflector even though they are the best on the market.

I'm with Bob.  If Joe is not allowed to participate on this forum, I will leave
as well.  Maybe it's time to start a new reflector.

But the issue for me is who moderates the moderator? IMHO, the proper
thing for Bill to do would be to recuse himself when the matter
becomes personal. We have entered a slippery slope.

After mulling over this for the past day, I have decided that I too

As one one of EU users of RTTY reflector, can I say for all (so many
close his mouth now) -
this is something crazy in democracy a'la USA , not so...
why so ?
Joe is NEEDED MAN ON THIS REFLECTOR ( like AA5AU, like Mr. K.Chen and
others)
and moderator (tnx for spam cut-off and ets.) but he can not be
cuted-off (Joe) just for personal
reasons... We do not need 1000and1 RTTY reflectors - we NEED ONE, WE
ARE NOT SO
MANY ! and RTTY reflector aafter so many years CAN'T BE SHIFTED TO OTHER
PLACE.
Please, please.... find a Gold middle...

TNX&es tnx for attention , 73 !

One individual serving as
judge, jury and executioner is a disservice to everyone else on the
reflector.

If someone feels a post is out-of-bounds, take it up with the sender off the
reflector. Escalating personal attacks on the reflector is equally
inappropriate.

list email to me.

But the issue for me is who moderates the moderator? IMHO, the proper
thing for Bill to do would be to recuse himself when the matter
becomes personal. We have entered a slippery slope.

After mulling over this for the past day, I have decided that I too
will withdraw from this reflector unless this issue is resolved.

As someone who has owned a list for 15 years (!) that, in it's hay
day, saw 100 messages per day, and as someone who has subscribed to
dozens or hundreds of others over the past 20 years, I have to vote
WITH Bill.

If a subscriber can't abide by the same rules as everyone else, then
he has to go.

In this case, it appears that the subscriber in question continued his
out-of-bounds posts even after being put on "moderated" status (BTW,
very few lists are truly moderated, where every post is approved by a
moderator).

Being moderated was the subscriber's "second chance" and it appears he blew it.

REPLY:

You haven't seen the messages because I intercepted them before they
got to the reflector. Joe has been on moderated status since mid-June.
Of the more than 1400 members of this reflector, he is the only one on
moderated status since I started moderating in 2007.

I don't think I have a "grudge" against Joe, but the reverse is
certainly not true. He attacks me personally every chance he gets,
even on other reflectors.

That's enough of this on the reflector.

If anyone wants to continue this particular discussion off the
reflector, email me at and I will furnish you
with all the examples you want.

One individual serving as
judge, jury and executioner is a disservice to everyone else on the

If someone feels a post is out-of-bounds, take it up with the sender off the
reflector. Escalating personal attacks on the reflector is equally
inappropriate.

out on numerous occasions and his knowledge and assistance is of great value.  I
see no reason why he should be unsubscribed.  I've not read anything that
constitutes as an attack on anyone.  He doesn't tout Microham products on this

will withdraw from this reflector unless this issue is resolved.

In this case, it appears that the subscriber in question continued his
out-of-bounds posts even after being put on "moderated" status (BTW,
very few lists are truly moderated, where every post is approved by a
moderator).

Being moderated was the subscriber's "second chance" and it appears he blew it.

each and everyone of them.
I have seen Joe answer many a question on this list and if he is not
allowed to participate in helping
out other hams then I will also be counted in the gone list.
